Baptism

At St. Clement's, we prepare the families of infants being baptised, as well as any adult candidates for baptism, through a careful process. There are two preparation classes in which the spiritual meaning of baptism is discussed. After that, there is a rehearsal for the service itself. Parents of infants, and adult candidates for baptism are required to attend all of the classes and the rehearsal. The sponsors and/or god parents are required to attend rehearsal as well. The classes are approximately 90 minutes in length and parents and/or baptismal candidates are invited to share reasons why they are pursuing baptism. The baptismal vows are explored and discussed including how to follow through with those vows. We ask that baptismal families participate in the baptismal service by volunteering to read one of the scripture readings. Readers also come to the rehearsal. Unfortunately, St. Clement's does not provide any private baptisms - it is always a parish event - in which all members of the community attend and welcome the newly baptised. If you are interested in baptism, the pastoral staff and other members of the St. Clement's community look forward to meeting you. Please contact Church Office for further information.
